Discover the artistic power of spray paint! Learn how to create expressive works, stencils, and decorative objects using spray techniques - perfect for both beginners and creative professionals.
This article is a continuation of a previous one ( Graffiti Art - Street Art ) because now I will present you with some ideas for using spray paint (the main tool of the graffiti artist) to create objects or paintings that are particularly expressive, but also very easy to make.
However, it is necessary to keep in mind a few things, namely that these techniques are preferably worked in a well-ventilated environment, using gloves and other protective equipment, especially if you are sensitive to these substances. Sprays come in many types and colors. Thus, we have:
- General purpose sprays . This type can be used on most surfaces (wood, metal, etc.) for both indoor and outdoor use, and has a fast drying time. They can have a matte, glossy or metallic appearance, etc. Be careful, however, this type of spray is recommended for use outdoors or in a very well-ventilated area, as it is toxic if inhaled for a long time.
- Decorative sprays . As the name suggests, it can be used to color various decorations, including textile sprays (washable). These can have the appearance of granite, stone, antique, silver, bronze, gold, even with cracks, etc. Manufacturers claim that this type of spray is non-toxic, so it can also be used by children. It is suitable for both indoors and outdoors.
- Anti - rust spray . This type of spray is specially designed for outdoors and has a shiny appearance after drying, lasting very well over time.
- Professional sprays . These are used for special purposes because they dry quickly, have high color and appearance resistance over time.
- Plastic sprays . They are used on plastic, various resins, PVC, surfaces that other types of sprays do not adhere very well to. They can be used on toys or garden chairs. They do not require cleaning or sanding the support before painting.
- Special sprays . This group of sprays is used in those special situations. For example, sprays with high heat resistance orvarnish sprays for a very shiny finish .
This technique offers a wide variety of approaches and is very quickly executed (the drying period is very short, between 2-4 hours): from the stencil technique (which I presented in a previous article ), to various imprints, graffiti (scratches), etc.
Here are some examples of works that can be easily performed by everyone, with different prints using sprays :
